2008 isn’t just the end of a year; it’s an end of an era. After 8 years, Bush left us with some nice parting gifts: two large playpens where we can test our latest military toys, lots of friends, and a thriving market (for bankruptcy lawyers). But the best gifts are sometimes unintended. Dubya was a comedian’s dream come true, a treasure trove of great material. You don’t even have to make up any jokes; the source material is just that rich.

I’m a bit sad because Obama is so much more serious and thoughtful. This may be better for the country, but we won’t be laughing as hard. The Obamaisms so far are nowhere near as funny as the stuff that Bush and his gang cranked out regularly. But Obama will get at least four years; let’s see what he can do!

Let’s review some classic Bushisms, shall we?

Bush’s Top 25 embarrassing moments - There is just too much good stuff here. Be sure to visit the site and check out the videos. Here are some of my favorite quotes.

As a candidate, George W. Bush once asked, “Is our children learning?”
Now he has an answer.
Childrens do learn.”
Bush made the remark at the White House while assessing the success of his No Child Left Behind Act.

“Our enemies are innovative and resourceful, and so are we. They never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people, and neither do we.” Source

About.com’s Rumsfeldisms - Much ado about nothing

“Reports that say that something hasn’t happened are always interesting to me, because as we know, there are known knowns; there are things we know we know. We also know there are known unknowns; that is to say we know there are some things we do not know. But there are also unknown unknowns — the ones we don’t know we don’t know.”
